Condolences

by xenatisch

Xenatisch web-group would like to hereby express its deepest condolences about the incident which took place yesterday in Dam Square, Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Yesterday, an Iranian asylum seeker committed self-immolation after the rejection of his asylum case and facing the risk of deportation to Iran.

A human being gave up his life to express a message to us. A message which is not to be forgotten. He set  himself on fire to tell us that he was trying to tell the truth, but no one was hearing him. Everyone was being accusing. And everyone was standing on the position of “You are WRONG unless otherwise is proven”. When did this change? When did we start to say this? Because it used to be the other way around.

Protect the Human…

No human is illegal…

I therefore strongly condemn the Dutch government for not attempting to prevent such an incident, and sincerely hope to see a change in their policy within the nearest future.

Starry, starry night.
Portraits hung in empty halls,
Frameless head on nameless walls,
With eyes that watch the world and can’t forget.
Like the strangers that you’ve met,
The ragged men in the ragged clothes,
The silver thorn of bloody rose,
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow.

Now I think I know what you tried to say to me,
How you suffered for your sanity,
How you tried to set them free.
They would not listen, they’re not listening still.
Perhaps they never will…
